Mallorca Stun Real Madrid With Late Winner In LaLiga Shock

Mallorca produced a dramatic late victory to defeat Real Madrid 2-1, with a stoppage-time goal sealing a crucial result in the LaLiga survival battle.

Mallorca delivered one of the biggest shocks of the LaLiga season, edging past Real Madrid 2-1 in a dramatic encounter at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.

Despite dominating possession and creating several early chances, Real Madrid were punished for their lack of cutting edge in front of goal. Kylian Mbappe and Arda Guler were both denied by an inspired Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman, who kept the hosts in the game during the opening stages.

Mallorca capitalised on those missed opportunities in the 41st minute when Manu Morlanes finished clinically after a well-worked move involving Pablo Maffeo to give the home side a surprise lead.

Real Madrid struggled to find rhythm in the second half, with their attacking play lacking the sharpness expected from a side chasing the title. Mallorca remained disciplined and organised, frustrating the visitors and limiting clear chances.

The breakthrough for Los Blancos finally arrived in the 88th minute when Eder Militao rose highest to head home from a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner, seemingly rescuing a point for the visitors.

However, the drama was far from over. Deep into stoppage time, Vedat Muriqi struck the decisive blow, finishing emphatically after an assist from Mateo Joseph to send the home crowd into wild celebrations.

The result lifts Mallorca out of the relegation zone into 17th place, a vital boost in their fight for survival. Meanwhile, Real Madrid remain second in the standings, four points behind leaders Barcelona, missing a key opportunity to close the gap.

Statistically, Real Madrid registered more attempts, but Mallorca’s efficiency in front of goal proved decisive, highlighting the fine margins that often define top-level football.

For Mallorca, this victory could prove pivotal in their season, while Real Madrid are left to reflect on a performance that lacked urgency when it mattered most.
