Liverpool claimed another famous European triumph at Anfield, defeating Real Madrid 1-0 thanks to Alexis Mac Allister’s second-half goal. The win marks a second straight home victory over the Spanish giants, as Arne Slot’s side continued their resurgent run in the Champions League.
Despite Liverpool’s dominance, the first half ended goalless as Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois produced a string of exceptional saves denying Szoboszlai three times and keeping out a fierce strike from Mac Allister.
The breakthrough finally came in the 61st minute. From a free-kick won by Bellingham’s foul, Dominik Szoboszlai curled a perfect delivery into the box, where Mac Allister escaped his marker to power a header beyond Courtois. After a brief VAR check for offside, the goal stood to the delight of the Anfield crowd.
Real Madrid struggled to respond, failing to register a single shot on target in the second half. Mbappe came closest to equalising, firing inches wide from Vinícius Júnior’s pass, while Salah and substitute Gakpo both saw late efforts denied by Courtois and Militao.
The victory leaves both teams level on nine points in the group, setting up a tense battle for qualification after the international break.
Next up, Liverpool face Manchester City in the Premier League, while Real Madrid travel to take on Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga.
