Atletico Madrid and Villarreal delivered commanding performances on Saturday night, brushing aside Sevilla and Rayo Vallecano respectively with emphatic scorelines and clinical attacking displays that highlighted their growing confidence in La Liga.

It was a statement evening in La Liga as Atletico Madrid and Villarreal CF both recorded resounding victories, showcasing their attacking prowess and tactical discipline. Atletico Madrid swept aside Sevilla 3-0 at the Metropolitano, while Villarreal dismantled Rayo Vallecano 4-0 at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

At the Cívitas Metropolitano, Diego Simeone’s men displayed a well-balanced mix of patience and precision. After a goalless first half, Julián Álvarez broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, confidently converting a penalty into the bottom left corner. That goal opened the floodgates for Atletico’s trademark second-half surge.

New signing Thiago Almada doubled the lead in the 77th minute, finishing clinically after a neat assist from Giuliano Simeone, before Antoine Griezmann put the icing on the cake in stoppage time with a composed strike to the bottom corner again assisted by Almada.

The 3-0 victory was a showcase of Atletico’s growing fluidity in attack, with Álvarez, Almada, and Griezmann all on the scoresheet an encouraging sign for Simeone as his side continues to push toward the top of the table.

Meanwhile, at the Estadio de la Cerámica, Villarreal CF were in inspired form, crushing Rayo Vallecano 4-0 in front of their home supporters. Gerard Moreno opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a precise finish from the right side of the box, assisted by Georges Mikautadze.

The Yellow Submarine shifted into another gear in the second half, as Alberto Moleiro struck from distance in the 56th minute, followed by Santi Comesaña’s curling finish two minutes later to make it 3-0. Ayoze Pérez completed the rout in the 65th minute, tucking home Villarreal’s fourth after relentless attacking pressure.

Villarreal’s fluid movement and incisive transitions left Rayo chasing shadows, and by the final whistle, Marcelino’s side had recorded one of their most dominant performances of the season—four goals, a clean sheet, and total control.

With these victories, both Atletico Madrid and Villarreal reaffirmed their ambitions in the Spanish top flight. Atletico’s front trio looks increasingly dangerous, while Villarreal’s blend of experience and youth appears to be hitting stride at the perfect time.
