Nottingham Forest and Manchester United shared the spoils in a pulsating 2–2 draw at the City Ground, as Forest’s second-half resurgence nearly secured a famous win before Amad Diallo’s late volley rescued a point for the visitors.

Nottingham Forest and Manchester United played out a captivating 2–2 Premier League draw at the City Ground, in a match that had everything—controversy, comebacks, and late drama.

United took the lead in the 34th minute through Casemiro, who rose highest to head home Bruno Fernandes’ pinpoint corner. Forest players protested furiously, believing Nicolo Savona had kept the ball in play before the corner was awarded, but the referee stood firm. The goal silenced the home crowd and gave Rúben Amorim’s men a slender halftime advantage.

However, Sean Dyche’s Forest came out for the second half with renewed energy and belief. Just three minutes after the restart, Morgan Gibbs-White leveled the score with a composed header from Ryan Yates’ floated cross—his first Premier League goal of the season.

The City Ground erupted again moments later as Savona, at the center of the first-half controversy, completed the turnaround in the 50th minute. A scrappy passage inside United’s box ended with the fullback slotting the ball into the bottom corner to give Forest a 2–1 lead.

United were rocked but refused to give up. Substitute Amad Diallo produced a stunning equalizer in the 81st minute, smashing home a thunderous volley from the edge of the area after Forest failed to clear their lines from a corner. The goal survived a VAR review and reignited United’s push for a late winner.

They almost found it in stoppage time when Diallo’s close-range shot beat the goalkeeper but was heroically cleared off the line by Murillo, saving Forest from a heartbreaking defeat.

Forest remain in 18th place, still fighting to escape the relegation zone, but Dyche will take encouragement from his team’s spirit and attacking intent. United stay sixth, maintaining their European ambitions but left ruing missed chances that could have sealed all three points.

Next up, Forest travel to Austria to face Sturm Graz in the Europa League before hosting Leeds United in the Premier League, while United prepare for a crucial showdown with Tottenham Hotspur in North London.
